Abstract
ABSTRACT The study was conducted to access the effects of dietary supplementation of selenium on thermoregulation and egg quality of quail hens. A total of 20 quail birds at 4 weeks of age with an average weight of 140g were allotted to 4 treatments with 5 birds per treatment. The treatment comprises of control (0% selenium), 1% selenium, 2% selenium and 3% selenium. Respiratory-rate (RR) and Cloaca temperature (CT) were observed at 2 days interval weekly for the entire duration of the study. The study lasted for 8 weeks. Egg qualities of experimental birds were evaluated twice in a week. Data was subjected to one-way Anova. Duncan Multiple Range was used to separate treatment means with p0.05) on RR and CT. Egg weight, albumen weight and yolk weight of birds fed selenium especially at 2% - 3% were significantly higher (p
