Effect of Students Perception on Mathematics Performance Among Senior School Students in Jogana, Gezawa Lga

Abstract
The study investigated the effects of student’s perception on Mathematics performance among senior/junior school students in Jogana, Gezawa Local Government Area Kano. The design of the study was quantitative technique and a descriptive survey design. The population of the study comprised of 268 students, a sample of (384) students from four (4) selected senior secondary schools. The instruments used for data collection was questionnaire. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyzed the collected data. The results show that Senior High School Students’ positive perceptions on Mathematics, Student’s Negative Perception of Learning Mathematics, The relationship between students' perceptions and Mathematics performance and Effect of student’s perception on mathematics performance. The study recommended that teachers should use instructional strategies that take into account learners' differences or learning hurdles, reduce anxiety, foster active interest in, and appreciation of, what is being taught and learned. Students should also manage their time well so that they have ample time to practice and comprehend the mathematical ideas they have learnt in class. Resources for education should be made available by the government.
