Abstract
Soil salinity is a critical factor affecting agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions. Soil salinity arises from natural processes, such as weathering of parent rocks and poor drainage, as well as human activities like excessive irrigation and improper fertilization. The accumulation of soluble salts in the root zone impairs water uptake by plants, leading to physiological stress and reduced yields. This research try to highlights the importance of monitoring soil salinity levels using geospatial techniques, electrical conductivity (EC) measurements, and soil sampling. The study was carried out in Danbatta Thomas dam irrigation scheme to investigate the causes, distribution, and impact of soil salinity on crop growth and soil health, emphasizing sustainable management practices to mitigate its effects. Four farms were randomly selected and five soil samples were collected in W shape format so as to have good representation. The samples collected were well label, dried, sieved and standard laboratory procedures was followed to determine salinity status.
