Abstract
Waterborne parasitic infections are a significant public health concern, particularly in regions with limited access to clean and safe water. The parasitological examination of water samples is a crucial process for detecting and identifying parasites such as Giardia, Cryptosporidium, Entamoeba histolytica, and helminths like Ascaris and Schistosoma. This study outlines the methodologies involved in such examinations, including sample collection, filtration, microscopic analysis, and advanced techniques such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and immunological assays. The findings of parasitological examinations play a pivotal role in assessing water quality, identifying contamination sources, and guiding interventions to mitigate health risks. Challenges such as low parasite concentrations, resource limitations, and environmental interferences are addressed through innovative diagnostic technologies and standardized protocols. Recommendations include improving laboratory capacity, enforcing water quality regulations, and promoting community awareness about waterborne diseases.
