Analysis of Flooding Incidence in Oyindoola, Egbeda Local Government Area, Oyo State.

Abstract
This study analyzed flooding incidence in Oyindoola, Egbeda local government area, Oyo state. Floods are most frequent type of natural disaster and are occur when an overflow of water submerges land that is usually dry. Damage and losses of properties and to the economy are the two most devastating effects of flood. The study adopted a research design of planning, structure and strategy of investigation, secondary sources of data will be used. Data were collected through Field observation, Questionnaires and Personal interview. The sample frame for the study was 299 while the sample size was 120 respondents. Random sampling technique was adopted for the study, while data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistical tools. The study revealed that lack of proper drainage system is one of the causes of flood. The findings of the study also revealed that collapsed buildings (partly) also resulted from flood incidence. Based on the findings of the study it was recommended that, there should be proper public education or awareness on the consequences that are attached to blockage of drainage. Government should also construct earth dams to take care of run-off diversions, and in terms of waste management.
