Effect of Media Credibility on News Consumption Among Civil Servants in State Government Offices Osogbo

Abstract
Abstract This study was carried out to examine the effect of media credibility on news consumption among the civil servants in State Government offices Osogbo. The objectives of the study are to; determine the extent at which civil servants in Osogbo are expose to media; examine the extent at which Civil servant in Osogbo believe that media provides reliable, trustworthy and accurate information.; know the attitude of civil servants to news reportage of the media; examine the extent at which media brings quality information to its audience; determine the level of credibility in the media reports. Survey method was employed in carrying out this research, 150 questionnaires were distributed out of which 140 copies were successfully filled and returned. Analysis was done with the use of simple percentage. Findings in the research revealed that TV is perceived as the most credible mass media, followed by the radio, and then the others forms of media. This is because of the current news on national and public affairs that are disseminated by both media are reliable. Radio credibility is still low as perceived by the Osun civil servant. It is however recommended that There is need for journalists to be adequately remunerated to avert over dependence on collecting gratification after covering events.
