Abstract
The study focused on "Effect of Media Campaigns on Domestic Violence among Couples in, Osogbo Local Government, Osun State". This study is to examine effect of media campaigns on domestic violence in Nigeria focus on Osogbo Local Government, Osun State. The research method used for this study is survey. The method was adopted due to its relevance to the project topic. The researcher used questionnaire to obtain responses from the respondents. A total number of 400 questionnaires containing 20 questions each were distributed to the respondents to gather response about the study adopted Selective Perception Theory and Social Responsibility theory explain free press without any censorship but at the same time the content of the press should be discussed in public panel and media should accept any obligation from public interference or professional self regulations or both. It was discovered that the media should be careful in transmitting scenes of violence that could be easily imitated and that involve tools that are easy to find such as: knives, hammers, picks. The researcher therefore recommended that Bill for an Act to Eliminate Violence in Private and Public life, in Peace and Conflict situations; to Prohibit, Prevent and Punish all Forms of Violence in the Society and to Provide Maximum Protection and Effective Remedies to all Victims of Violence must be initiated. Bill should seek to eliminate all forms of violence against all categories of persons in the private and public sphere.
