Abstract
ABSTRACT Irrigation is the artificial application of water to the soil for the purpose of supplying the essential moisture for plant growth to eliminate moisture deficiency at various stage of plant growth i.e. there is need for adequate and timely irrigation. This project is target on the development of a sprinkler irrigation system for student’s demonstration which was installed on the departmental irrigation field. The field area of 25 30m was properly stumped, ploughed, harrowed and topography of the land used was flat. This project focuses on the development and analysis of a sprinkler irrigation system designed to optimize agricultural productivity in water-limited environments. The study investigates the integration of a high-capacity pump, which is critical for efficient water delivery and pressure management within the irrigation system. Through a comprehensive evaluation of the system's performance, this research aims to assess water use efficiency and crop yield enhancements. Additionally, physiochemical properties of the soil utilized for irrigation are analyzed, including moisture retention, nutrient availability, and texture. Graphical representations of these soil analyses provide insights into the relationship between soil health and irrigation effectiveness. The outcome of this project contributed valuable knowledge to the field of sustainable agriculture, demonstrating the potential benefits of advanced irrigation technologies in enhancing crop productivity and resource management. The most suitable pump was designed and determined to be 1.5hp, the irrigation line was installed and tested. The results showed that a developed sprinkler irrigation system reduce cost of purchasing, installing, maintaining and also reduce the labor energy wastage, time and labor requirements.
