Abstract
This project titled “STATISTICAL ANALYSIS ON CONTRIBUTION OF SOME SELECTED SERVICES SECTOR ON ECONOMIC GROWTH IN NIGERIA” A case study of National Bureau of Statistic from 2008 – 2022. The aimed of this project is achieved through the following objective, to check the strength and direction between the four selected services sector and GDP, to detect if multicollinearity that exists between the independent variables (Education, information, transportation and health, to scrutinize the extent to which the Education, information, transportation and health are significantly contributing to the GDP of Nigeria and to fit a Regression model that will estimate the Gross Domestic Product based on independent variables (Education, information, transportation and health). consequently, the multiple correlation reveals that that the p-values (0.000, 0.001, 0.000 and 0.000) are all less than alpha value (0.05) we therefore reject the null hypothesis and conclude that, there is a linear relationship between the selected economical services sector and GDP. The multicollinearity analysis of VIF reveal the that (2.098, 1.536,1.707 and 1.130) respectively are all less than 5, we therefore reject the null hypothesis and conclude that the independent variables (Education, information, transportation and health) are not collinear variables. Also, the ANOVA analysis reveal that the p-value is (0.000) is less than alpha value (0.05) we therefore reject the null hypothesis and conclude that, at least one of the coefficients is statistically significant which signifies that the model is statistically significant, indicating that the model is fit for prediction. Lastly, the regression equation which can be used to estimate or predict the GDP is given as: GDP (Billion Naira) = 39929.262 + 75.933(Education) – 9.421(Information) + 13.320(transportation) + 68.353(Health). Therefore, we recommended that government and stakeholders, in calling for diversification of the economy, should also pay focus on developing the strategies that could enhance and improve the performance of the growing service sectors.
