Investigating Effects of Corporate Social Responsibility on Customer Patronage in First Bank Nigeria Plc, Ado Ekiti

Abstract
The study examines corporate social responsibility and customer patronage in First Bank plc., Ado-Ekiti. Specifically, the study examined the effect of corporate philanthropy on customer patronage; determined the relationship between corporate welfarism and customer patronage and investigated effect of community volunteers on customer patronage in First Bank plc, Ado-Ekiti. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The study was carried out in Ado-Ekiti metropolis where copies of questionnaire were distributed to purposively selected respondents. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis in testing the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significant. Findings of the study showed that corporate philanthropy had significant positive effect on customer patronage. Also, the result showed that a significant positive relationship existed between corporate welfarism and customer patronage. In addition, findings revealed that community volunteers had significant positive relationship with customer patronage. The study concluded that increase in corporate social responsibility led to increase in customer patronage in First Bank plc, Ado-Ekiti. The study recommended that the management of First Bank plc., should try to win customer confidence by always paying attention to the need of customer patronizing the bank. Management of the bank should also emphasize the observance of corporate governance principles in their operation.
