Abstract
Municipal waste is generated on a daily basis all over the world as a result of the use of non-biodegradable materials for functions such as packaging etc. Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma is not exempted from this problem hence this project entails the design and fabrication of a municipal waste shredding machine to reduce the size or volume of waste littering the campus and its immediate environment. Research on similar designs, proper analysis and calculations were conducted. The shredder was designed to have a hopper, a shredding unit, power transmission unit and the machine frame. The cost of producing one unit of the machine at the time of fabrication was estimated to be one million, one hundred and thirty thousand Naira (N1,130,000).
