Development of Students’ Result Management Software (case Study of Computer Science Department, University of Maiduguri)

This study focuses on the development of a Students' Result Academic Management System aimed at streamlining academic processes such as course registration, result processing, result upload by educators, transcript generation, and academic status management. The system is designed to offer tailored interfaces for students, educators, and administrators, each with specific functionalities. Students can register for courses, check their results, and request transcripts, while educators can upload and update student grades, manage courses, and track student progress. Administrators oversee user and course management, system operations, and audit logs to ensure smooth functionality and data integrity. The system is built using a combination of modern technologies to ensure scalability, security, and efficient performance. The frontend is developed with React.js and Bootstrap for a responsive user interface, while the backend utilizes Django and Django REST Framework (DRF) for secure, scalable, and efficient server-side operations. Data is stored and managed using PostgreSQL, ensuring integrity and security, with JWT for user authentication and role-based access control. Additionally, the system supports multiple formats for data downloads, allowing users to export results and transcripts in PDF, MS Word, or Excel formats, providing flexibility and convenience for document generation. Testing revealed that the system significantly enhances data accuracy, reduces administrative burdens, and improves accessibility for all users. By automating processes, centralizing control, and implementing structured workflows, the system provides an efficient solution for managing academic operations. With a focus on transparency and improved data management, the system demonstrates the potential to revolutionize academic management within educational institutions.
