Abstract
*Abstract:* This study investigates the impact of teaching phonology on the spoken English of senior secondary school students in Ife Central Local Government, Osun State. A quasi-experimental design was employed, with 100 students randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group received phonology instruction, while the control group did not. Pre- and post-tests were administered to assess students' spoken English skills. The results showed a significant improvement in the spoken English of students in the experimental group, indicating that teaching phonology has a positive influence on students' pronunciation, intonation, and overall spoken English skills. The findings suggest that incorporating phonology instruction into English language teaching can enhance students' communication skills and language proficiency. The study's results have implications for language teaching and learning in secondary schools. *Keywords:* Phonology, spoken English, senior secondary school students, language teaching, language learning.
