Imperative of Business Education Students Acquisition of Job Competency for Current Challenges in Global Economic Realities.

Abstract
This study focus on the imperative of business education students acquisition of job competency for current challenges in global economic realities. Four research questions were raised to guide the study. Descriptive survey research design was used for the study. A structured questionnaire was used to elicit information answering the research questions. The sample population of 65 students was randomly selected from the Department of Vocational and Technical Education. Mean and standard deviation was used to analyze the respondents responses. The following are the findings of the study. It was established that Business Education Students need to possess competency in diverse set of skills to navigate through challenges in global landscape, in this study four competency were mentioned and explained extensively which are competency in customers services skills, flexibility skills, digital skills and customer services skills. It was established that business education students need to possess competencies in customer services skills to effectively address customers concerns and excel in customer services roles, they also need to acquire competency in flexibility skills to thrive in diverse and dynamic environment. The study also revealed that business education students need to acquire competency in digital skills to effectively mange the challenges of the global economy and leverage technology to drive business growth, and lastly business education students need competency in teamwork skills to effectively coordinate activities within the team. In the light of this study the following recommendation were made. Adequate funds should be provided by the government to institutions for purchasing up-to-date technology and software to ensure students have access to the latest tools and platforms used in the business world. Business education programmes should regularly review and update their curriculum to ensure they align with industry needs and trends.
