Assessment of Tourism Potentials and Their Development on Boki L.g.a of Cross River State

Abstract
This research was designed to assess the availability of tourism potentials and their level of development in Boki Local government area of Cross River State. One hundred and sixty (160) respondents were involved. A 20 item questionnaire was designed based on the hypotheses formulated. The data collected were analyzed using chi-square (X}). For hypothesis one, there was a significant relationship between community participation and the development of tourism potentials. The findings of hypothesis two shows that there is a strong relationship between government annual budgets and the development of tourism industry. Finally, the third hypothesis also shows that there is a significant relationship between the development of tourism potentials and the socio-economic livelihood of the people. Some recommendations arising from the above findings include: Communities should be encouraged to participate in the development of tourism industry by involving them from the planning to the implementation stage; Governments both at Local, State and federal level should start considering tourism as the most vital tool in the economic expansion and budgets heavily for the development of the sector and Investors should employed workers within the communities to enable them appreciate the need for the development of the industry
