Abstract

Abstract This research explores the figures of al-badī‘ (rhetorical embellishments) employed in the anthology of Al-Ḥafṣiyyāt by Abū Ḥuzaifah Bazullahi Abdullahi Yahaya. The study aims to identify and analyze the literary devices used by the poet to enrich meaning, beauty, and emotional impact within his Arabic poetic compositions. Using a descriptive and analytical method, the research highlights the major types of al-badī‘ figures found in the anthology, such as jinās (paronomasia), ṭibāq (antithesis), mubālaghah (exaggeration), isti‘ārah (metaphor), and tashbīh (simile). The findings show that Abū Ḥuzaifah employs these styles with artistic mastery to convey moral, spiritual, and didactic messages effectively. The study concludes that Al-Ḥafṣiyyāt reflects both classical Arabic rhetorical tradition and a modern linguistic touch, making it a valuable contribution to contemporary Arabic poetry.
