Stress on Employees’ Performance in an Organization (a Case Study of Guinness Nig Plc, Benin City, Edo State)

Abstract

This deal with the stress on Employee's Performance in an organization using Guiness Nigeria Plc Benin city. The objectives of the study are: to determine the effect of stress on Workers performance and to identify the causes and symptoms of stress experience by workers in the work place. Both Primary and secondary sources of data were used to gather information for the study. Descriptive research design was adopted in the study. The population of the study is 45 staffs of Guiness Nigeria Plc. The Sample size is 30 staff selected randomly from the population. However, 20 of the questionnaires administered were successfully retrieved for analysis. The data was analyzed using simple percentage and chi-square statistical tool. From the data analyzed, it was found that stress is present among some employees of Guiness Nigeria Plc. Benin city. Which has led to poor job performance of the employees. The research therefore recommends among others, that there should be job redesign which will help to reduce stress among the employees of the organization and non-competitive physical exercise like across jogging, swimming, scrambling etc. have been recommended by physicians as a way to deal excessive stress level.
