Optimization of the Solar Photovoltaic System in Mechanical Engineering Building in Futo: Improving Power Production and Energy Storage Capacity

This project, Optimization of the Solar PV System in the Mechanical Engineering Building, FUTO: Improving Power Production and Energy Storage Capacity, addresses the urgent need for enhanced renewable energy solutions. The existing solar photovoltaic (PV) system in the department falls short of meeting daily energy demands, generating only 7,500Wh of the required 12,500Wh and lacking sufficient energy storage for cloudy or rainy days. Additionally, the system faces challenges such as improper battery management and insufficient capacity for additional loads. This project aims to optimize the existing solar PV system by increasing its power production and energy storage capabilities. Key objectives include maximizing energy yield, improving system reliability, and reducing downtime. The methodology involves conducting a detailed energy audit, upgrading panel configurations, implementing advanced storage technologies, and fabricating a durable battery rack to extend battery life. The study evaluates the cost-effectiveness and longterm benefits of these optimizations compared to grid reliance. By integrating advanced materials and techniques, this project demonstrates the potential of tailored solar energy solutions to meet the specific energy requirements of academic institutions while aligning with global sustainability goals.
