Abstract
ABSTRACT This research work examines the impact of population growth to the unemployment rate in Nigerian economy, (2010-2020). Noted that, rapid population growth poses continuous pressure on resources, particularly on agricultural land.. The theoretical review of the research work took a reflection in the academic ideas of other authors in the field of population economics. Obviously, a world of finite space and limited resources projected, population growth can imperil human and economic development, putting millions of people at greater risk for hunger, poverty and water scarcity. The hypothesis was formulated with data spanning the period between 2010 and 2020. On the course of the research work, the ordinary least square (OLS) statistical package was used and mostly records from the CBN and NBS bulletins. The model attempted to investigate the impact of population growth to unemployment on Nigerian economy.. One consequence of prolonged population growth coupled with reducing fertility rates is that Nigeria is on the verge of a potential demographic dividend; the economic growth due to the increase in the share of a country's working age population. However, lack of investment into the human resources in the early stage of child development remains the challenge among all other issues toward solving the problems of population growth and unemployment in the country. While aforementioned should be addressed in line with government policies on population and economic recovery plans be effectively coordinated in the process of the nations on development and citizen values. vii
