Abstract

This project presents the design and implementation of a Hostel Management System aimed at improving hostel allocation, room booking, and payment processes in a university environment. The traditional manual system of handling hostel operations often leads to delays, human errors, and data mismanagement. This software solution addresses those limitations by introducing a centralized platform that allows both administrators and students to manage hostel activities efficiently. The system features include student registration, room availability tracking, online booking, automated payment records, and a digital notice board for announcements. Administrators can monitor student bookings, update records, and maintain transparency in room allocation and hostel payment procedures. Developed using PHP for backend functionality, MySQL for database operations, and HTML/CSS with Bootstrap for a responsive and attractive frontend, the application is tailored for easy scalability and practical deployment in Nigerian academic institutions. The outcome is a reliable, easy-to-use, and interactive system that enhances speed, accuracy, and accountability in hostel operations, making it a valuable tool for both students and school management.
