Abstract
ABSTRACT A study was conducted on the carcass characteristics of finishing broiler chicken supplemented with roselle seed meal, which was carried out at the Teaching and Research Farm, Poultry Unit of Mohamet Lawan College of Agriculture Jere Local Government Area Borno State. The objectives was to determine the carcass characteristics of finishing broiler chicken supplemented with roselle seed meal. A total of 40 unsexed finisher broiler chicken were randomly allocated into four (4) treatments and replicated twice, T1, T2, T3 and T4 in a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Each treatment consists of two replicate of 5 birds per replicate for a period of seven weeks. At the end of the experiment two birds from each treatment were randomly selected, starved overnight and slaughtered for carcass characteristics. The data collected were on abdominal fat, neck, ribs, drumsticks, breast muscles, back, thigh muscle, wings, head and shank which were weight and expressed as percentage of live weight.
