Personality Attribute and Ict Skills Expected of Secretaries for Effective Office Management in Educational Institution (case Study of Federal Polytechnic, Ede,osun State)

Abstract This project research work examined personality attributes and ICT skills expected of secretartes for effective managentent in educational institution, (Case study of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State) Descriptive survey research design was used for the study. The population of the study comprised 60 confidential secretaries. The researcher studied the whole population because of the manageable size of the population. Three (3) research questions guided the study: (1) What are the deskop publishing skills expected of secretaries in educational institutions? (2) What are the computer operations skills expected of secretaries in educutional institutions? (3) What are the empathy skills expected of secretaries in educational institations? Questionnaires were distributed by hand and the data were analyzed through simple mean method. The findings revealed that secretaries must possess personality attribute and ICT skills for effective office management in educational institution, it was concluded that the use of desktop publishing skills, computer operational skills, empathy skills are the persomality attribute expected of Secretary for them to have effective job performance in educutional institution. It was concluded that secretary should equip themselves with a very sound knowledge ef computer operations skills as this will enable them to carry out their duties more effectively and efficiently.
