Abstract
ABSTRACT This project focuses on the design and fabrication of a manually operated hydraulic press, aimed at providing a cost-effective and efficient solution for pressing operations in small-scale workshops. The design process involved the use of CAD software to develop a detailed model of the hydraulic press, ensuring all components met the required strength and durability standards. The fabrication phase was carried out using standard workshop tools, including welding machines, grinders, and drilling machines, to construct the frame, hydraulic system, and pressing plate. To enhance operator safety, a fiberglass shield was installed at the front of the frame, providing a protective barrier against potential hazards during operation. Key results demonstrated that the press could achieve a maximum pressure of 5000 PSI under manual operation, making it suitable for various applications such as metal forming, bending, and punching. The study’s implications suggest that such a press can significantly reduce operational costs for small manufacturers while offering a safer working environment, providing an affordable alternative to more expensive, automated hydraulic systems.
