Evaluation of Vocational Education Programmes of the Skills Acquisition Center Ringim, Jigawa State

Abstract
ABSTRACT The study seeks to evaluate the vocational education programs of skills acquisition center, Ringim Jigawa State. The research work was designed to examine the qualifications of the skills instructors in the Ringim Skills Acquisition Center, to identify skills offered in the Ringim Skills Acquisition Center, to examine availability of tools for learning the skills in Ringim Skills Acquisition Center. The population of the study constitutes 2116 of facilitators and participants in Ringim Skills Acquisition center, Jigawa State. A sample of 317 was selected to represent the entire population. Data were analyzed using frequency and percentage. Findings revealed that the principal. V. principal and other instructors have Diploma and NCE qualification respectively while 17 other instructors have a Grade Test qualification. Also, skills learned in the center include knitting, welding, interior decoration and tailoring. And among which tailoring is the most common skills learning the available tools in the center include woods, smother, tape and sower for carpentry, thread, cotton generator for knitting and scale, container and mixer for painting. The study recommended that Government should support the center with available implement and tools, also government should provide incentives to facilitators in the school in improve their status. Government should establish more vocational centers most especially in the rural areas so that the people will acquire the requisite knowledge and skill to enjoy its benefits of being self-reliant.
