Abstract
*Abstract:* This study investigates the diversity of nitrogen-fixing bacteria associated with cowpea under the canopies of three tree species: Acacia nilotica, Albizzia lebbeck, and Azadirachta indica. Using a combination of molecular and microbiological techniques, we isolated and characterized nitrogen-fixing bacteria from cowpea nodules. Our results show that the tree species influences the diversity and abundance of nitrogen-fixing bacteria, with distinct bacterial communities associated with each tree species. The findings have implications for sustainable agriculture practices, soil fertility management, and biodiversity conservation.
