Abstract
ABSTRACT Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is a widely used natural resource, with increasing consumption in both Domestic and industrial sectors. LPG is preferred due to its affordability, cleanliness, and ease of use. However, its widespread usage also raises the risk of fire hazards and gas accumulation caused by leaks. To mitigate these risks, it is essential to install a gas leakage detection system in vulnerable areas. This research presents the design and implementation of an LPG leakage detection system. The system utilizes an MQ-6 gas sensor to detect gas leaks and an Arduino microcontroller as the central processing unit to control all components. When a gas leak is detected, the sensor sends a signal to the microcontroller, which then activates a buzzer to provide an audio alert. Additionally, LED indicators are used to visually represent the gas leak status: green for normal conditions, yellow for a minor leak, and red for a dangerous gas concentration. Furthermore, in cases where no one is present on-site, the system sends an SMS alert to pre-registered mobile numbers using a GSM module, ensuring remote awareness and prompt action. The combination of visual alerts (LEDs) and audio alerts (buzzer) promotes inclusiveness, making the system accessible to both deaf and visually impaired individuals. This project provides an efficient, inclusive, and reliable safety measure to prevent LPG-related accidents and enhance overall gas safety.
