Comparative Analysis of Centralized and Decentralized Health Records Filling System on Patient Care in University of Calabar Teaching Hospital

ABSTRACT The project examines Centralized and Decentralized Health Records Filing System on effective Patient Health Care in the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar. Based on these, three objectives of the study were stated which include: To examine whether centralized or decentralized filing system is operative in the University of Calabar. To access if centralized or decentralized filing system enhances confidentiality of patient’s health records in the University of Calabar teaching hospital, Calabar. To find out whether there is any significance relationship between centralized and decentralized filing system in the University of Calabar teaching hospital, Calabar. To find out whether there is any significance relationship between centralized and decentralized filing system in the University of Calabar teaching hospital, Calabar. To determine if there is any significance effect of centralized or decentralized filing system towards quality patient care in the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar. Three research questions were asked and three hypotheses were formulated to guide the study.366 sample was used and sample random sampling was used in selecting the respondents for the study. The questionnaire was used as an instrument for conducting the research. The percentages and chi- square was used for the data analysis and the following result was obtained that centralized or decentralized filing system is not in operation in University of Calabar teaching hospital,Calabar as a proved of hypothesis 1. it was also affirmed that centralized or decentralized filing system enhances confidentiality in University of Calabar teaching hospital,Calabar, as a prove of hypothesis 2. It was also ascertained that there is a significance relation between centralized and decentralized filing system in the University of Calabar teaching hospital, Calabar as a prove to hypothesis 3. And finally,it was confirmed that there is effect of centralized and decentralized filing system towards quality patient care in university of Calabar teaching hospital,Calabar as a prove of hypothesis 4 and the following commendation were made: The government should employ new staff, trained and available staff and provide equipment for the upliftment of the work in the university of Calabar teaching hospital, Calabar.
