Design and Implementation of Transformer Mimic Panel Trainer (transformer on-Load Test Design)

In the engineering space, there's a need to bridge the lacuna between theory and practice to give better understanding, good interpretation and sound knowledge of the whole processes. Therefore, practical modules and trainers are employed to achieve this right at the laboratories. However, the aim of this project is to design and construct a Transformer Mimic Panel Trainer that can simulate the behaviour of a real power transformer and display the results of various experiments on a Light Crystal Display (LCD) screen. This trainer can help students understand the principles and theories of Electrical and Electronic Engineering better by providing a practical bridge between theory and practice. The trainer uses circuits such as voltage sensors, current sensors, resistive sensors, frequency sensors, and Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) to measure and convert analog signals into digital data that can be processed by a microprocessor (Arduino Nano) and displayed on any digital device. The trainer does not require any external or analog meters, which can cause errors or difficulties in reading. The trainer has a large display space, so students can view the results from any position in the laboratory. The trainer can perform five (5) relevant electrical and electronic experiments. However, aside from the discussion of all five experiments, this project will be focusing on the Transformer On-Load Test design and it experiment. The project was successfully completed, and the trainer was tested and found to be reliable. The trainer can be used to enhance the learning experience of students in the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and serves a significant purpose for engineers as well.
