Analysis of the Importance of Inigenous Language in Orisun Fm, Ile-Ife

Abstract
This research work is based on the importance of indigenous language in broadcast media. This project therefore clamored for the development of indigenous language in the electronic media. Moreover this project has been able to explain how indigenous language is of immense benefit to broadcast media. The researcher have also succeeded in analyzing critically the concept of indigenous language, indigenous communication, types of indigenous communication, history of indigenous communication, theories and mode of indigenous communication and many more. Through all these subject matters, it is hope that improvement would meet indigenous language in Broadcast media. Researcher adopted survey research method and one hundred and fifty (150) were drawn using questionnaire while out of 150 administered questionnaires one hundred and forty (140) were returned upon which the analysis was based. Finding shows that indigenous language was used in Orisun FM, 89.5, Oke-Itase, lle-Ife very effectively. It recommend that the producers and presenters should always make use of indigenous language in their programme very well without code mixing to let people of the South West know the importance of their indigenous language. During the course of this research, some limitations were encountered such as: Limitation of the respondents: questionnaires that were administered to only staff of Orisun FM. This is necessitated by the limited period need to complete the work. Financial constraints. Duration for the research work is relatively short. Uneasy access to informative materials on time. Stress from other academic assignments is one of the limitations to the study.
