Impact of Strategic Planning on Organisational Performance

Abstract
The study examined the impact of strategic planning on the performance of telecommunication firms in Ekiti State. Specifically, the study investigated the effect of strategic analysis; strategic direction and action planning on the performance of telecommunication firms in Ekiti State. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population of the study comprised of telecommunication staff (MTN, GLO and AIRTEL) in Ekiti State. The sample size was 239. Primary data used for the study were gathered through the administration of structured questionnaire. Data gathered were analysed using multiple regression. The study found that strategic analysis has significant effect on organisational performance; the study also found that strategic direction has significant effect on organisational performance; Furthermore, the study found that action planning has significant effect on organisational performance. The study concluded that all the constructs of the explanatory variables which are strategic analysis, strategic direction and action planning significantly affects the performance of telecommunication firms in Ekiti State and this study recommended that organisation particularly telecommunication sector should embrace on these variables in enhancing organisational performance.
