Abstract
ABSTRACT The research project hay explored the impacts of economic background of students on their academic achievement in Adeyemi Federal University of Education Ondo. Two specific purposes and two corresponding research questions were raised to guide the study. The research design adopted for this study was survey design. The population of the study comprised all students in Adeyemi Federal University of Education Ondo Simple random sampling technique was used to select 386 students from Adeyemi Federal University of Education. Ondo for the sampling. The instrument used to obtain information was structured questionnaire The data collected were analyzed using mean and chi-square. Therefore, the findings of the study revealed that the income level of parents has significant effect on the students’ academic achievement in Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo and the parental occupational status has significant effect on students’ academic achievement in Adeyemi Federal University of Education. Ondo Based on findings, the study recommended that parents should provide the physical and educational needs of their children such as, textbooks, writing materials and other learning materials to enhance their achievement in school and poor students should be provided with scholarships, free hooks and other stationary In addition, it is recommended that government should take steps to raise the welfare of the parents.
