Abstract
ABSTRACT The morphological, anatomical and micro morphological features of Senna spp. were investigated to assist in the identification of the species as a new record for Nigeria. Specimens collected from same place in the Nigeria confirmed the presence Senna spp as a naturalized species in the country. In general, the results obtained from the morphological studies were consistent with the previous studies on this species. However, the present investigation into leaf and stem anatomy patterns under light and scanning electron microscopes, respectively. Therefore, using transvers characteristic features in the anatomical study will be more detailed, this study aimed at improving the anatomical and taxonomic knowledge to broaden evolutionary information of the cultivated Senna spp. in Nigeria. Five major cultivated Senna species leaf and stem anatomical features were evaluated, focusing on using transverse sections. Results of the present study shows presence of different types of stomata including, paracytic and diacytic in character.
