Abstract
This study examines the role of commercial banks in the development of small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) in Osun State, Nigeria, with a focus on UBA and Union Bank. The study highlights the significance of commercial banks in providing financial support to SMEs, which contributes to economic growth and development. The findings suggest that commercial banks play a crucial role in promoting entrepreneurship development, but SMEs face challenges in accessing funds due to stringent collateral requirements and high interest rates. The study recommends that commercial banks design flexible loan schemes and provide capacity-building programs to enhance the management skills of SMEs.
