Abstract
ABSTRACT This study explored the effect of flexible working arrangements such as flexitime, telecommuting and compressed workweeks on employee performance; a case study of Gamp Technology. The three objectives of the study are to: examine the impact of flexitime on employee performance in Gamp Technology, examine the impact of telecommuting on employee performance in Gamp Technology and examine the impact of compressed workweeks on employee performance in Gamp Technology. The study used a descriptive survey research design, and the data were collected using a structured questionnaire administered to the employees of Gamp Technology. The data was analysed using both descriptive and inferential statistics, which consisted of regression analysis. The findings reveal that flexitime positively and statistically significantly affected employee performance, which implies that letting employees manage their own work time enhances motivation and performance. Telecommuting was also statistically significant to the performance of the employees, and this means that working remotely positively impacts productivity, job satisfaction, as well as work-life balance. But, a compressed workweek was not statistically significant to employee performance, meaning that reducing working days without reducing the workload does not lead to better performance of employees. The study concludes that despite the effectiveness of flexitime and telecommuting as methods to enhance the performance of employees, the implementation of the compressed workweek may necessitate additional changes in the distribution of workloads and the organisational structure and bring positive outcomes. It suggests that organisations should implement flexible work arrangement that combines flexitime and telecommuting while reviewing and piloting compressed workweek policies to ensure they align with employee needs and operational goals.
