Effect of Occupational Safety and Worker’s Performance in Manufacturing Firm

Abstract
The study examined the effect of occupational safety and works’ performance in manufacturing firm in Ekiti State, Nigeria while the specific objectives are to examine the effect of occupational hazard prevention; investigate the effect of training on safety; examine the safety policy programme and examine the effect of physical and mental health of occupational safety on workers’ performance among Manufacturing companies. The population for this study comprises all the owners of registered Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs)/NBC in Ado Ekiti LGA, Ekiti state, Nigeria. The population of the study comprise of 928 according to SMEDAN (2017). The figure includes both owners and managers of these businesses within Ado Ekiti metropolis area. Using Taro Yamane, the sample size of this study was 279 registered SMEs in Ado Local Government Area and the technique with which the selected were based on simple random technique. Data analysis is the process of bringing order, structure and meaning to the mass of information gathered. After collecting all the necessary data, these data were coded and edited, analyzed and rephrased to eliminate errors and ensure consistency. Descriptively, frequency and percentage were used to analysis the bio-data of the respondents while simple regression analysis shall be used to analysis the formulated hypotheses. The result of the study revealed that occupational hazard prevention is 0.600, with a t-value of 15.095 and a p-value of 0.000, training safety is 0.637, with a t-value of 18.105 and a p-value of 0.000, safety policy program is 0.681, with a t-value of 21.252 and a p-value of 0.000. the study implied that occupational safety significant effect on works’ performance in manufacturing. The study concluded that obtaining human resource safety OHS) information from healthcare professionals, having access to healthcare services for work-related health issues, and receiving OHS information from healthcare volunteers are important factors. Attend a training session on occupational health and safety conducted by another organization to get knowledge and insight into strategies and guidelines for minimizing work-related stress. The training facilitated the exchange of professional experiences among colleagues and was highly suitable for the training process
