Abstract

ABSTRACT This project work titled “Statistical Analysis on Electricity Consumption in Nigeria”, a Case Study Of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company. The aim of this research is to study the existence of relationship between the yearly electricity consumption and the GDP factor cost. However, the statistical tools used are; Regression analysis and Analysis of variance. Based on the analysis carried out, the analysis shows an increase in residential electricity consumption by one unit, holding other variable constant will lead to an increase of $0.044 billion on GDP. Also, an increase in industrial electricity consumption by one unit, holding other variable constant will lead to an increase of $0.009 billion on GDP. Also, the adjusted R Square 0.929 signifies a strong relationship between the GDP factor cost and the other two variables (Industrial electricity consumption and Residential electricity consumption, which implies that the GDP factor cost depends significantly on Industrial electricity consumption and Residential electricity consumption. The analysis of variance table shows that the p-value of 0.000 is less than 0.05, indicating that the model is significant and therefore fit for use. Based on the findings and analysis carried out, it is therefore recommended that; Government should increase electricity budget in order to provide more electricity to the customer and also improve customer satisfaction, which in turn earn the country higher income, Disciplinary measure should also be put in place by the government in order to prevent the damages of power grids, Proper or adequate maintenance of the electricity sector should be prioritize by the Government and other stakeholders in the power sector.
