Impact of Employee Training and Development Programmes on Talent Retention

Abstract
This project assesses the impact of employee training and development programmes on talent retention. The specific objective of the study is to identify the relationship between training programme and talent retention. The data collection was done by survey through direct interview by using questionnaires. A total of one hundred and twenty four (124) questionnaires were given out and only one hundred and nine (109) questionnaire were retrieved meaning that 88% of all the questionnaires was retrieved, which was used for the analysis. Data was collected from primary and secondary sources. Primary data was obtained through questionnaire and personal interviews with the respondents. Tables and simple percentage was used as technique of analyzing the research questions. Pearson correlation was used to analyse the data collected Furthermore, with R1 value = 0.857 meaning that there is positive correlations between training programme and talent retention in organization and with R2 value = 0.671 meaning that there is positive correlations between comprehensive orientation and talent retention. With R3 = 0.730 implies that proper monitoring and talent retention are positively correlated. Findings from the study revealed that when employees learn new skills and acquire new knowledge, they increase their career potential and add extra value to their employer and others whose work is impacted by their performance following a well structured plan for designing, Also training reduces the work of the manager in terms of close supervision, it also improves the drive, initiative and quality of work of the junior staffs thus assist them to be more committed to achieving the goals and objectives of the organisation. Base on the findings, the study concludes that organisation should encourage regular training and retraining of their staffs to the fullest advantage in order to enhance their effectiveness. Furthermore, the study further recommends proper monitoring of the staff to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Also regular orientation on what is expected of them on the task assigned to them.
