Influence of Test Anxiety, Interest and Gender on Chemistry Student's Achievement in Dala Local Government, Kanostate

Abstract

Abstract The study determined the influence of the of test anxiety in chemistry achievement as well as the influence of interest and gender in chemistry achievement among senior secondary students in Dala local government Kano State. In this study survey design was used because the study is all about determining the influence of test anxiety, interest and gender on chemistry achievement. The data were from 289 students using multi stage sampling technique, the data collected were analyzed using independent multiple regression as a tool of analysis. Result from first hypothesis have shown that the MR – cal was found to be 34.68 greater than MR – crit values which implies that test anxiety has significant influence on chemistry student’s achievement. And also from the second hypothesis the calculated value of MR – cal was found to be 30.29 which is greater than the MR – crit values 1.960 and this implies that that interest has significant influence on chemistry student’s achievement in Dala Local government. From the third hypothesis the calculated value of MR-cal was found to be 7.09 whicc is greater than the MR –crit 0.15, which implies that gender has no significant influence on chemistry student’s achievement in Dala local government. The study provide a positive recommendation to student’s parents, teachers as well as government.
