Abstract
This study examines the effect of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) as a regulatory on the production and consumption of sachet water in Ekiti State, Nigeria. Sachet water, commonly known as "PURE WATER," serves as a primary source of drinking water for many Nigerians due to it's affordability and accessibility. However, concerns over it's safety and quality necessitate strict regulatory oversight. The study employed qualitative research methods, including in-depth interviews and focus group discussions, involving sachet water producers, consumers, and NAFDAC officials in Ekiti State. Document analysis was also used to review NAFDAC's regulatory frameworks, inspection report, and public health guidelines. Data were analyzed thematically to provide a comprehensive understanding of NAFDAC'S impact on sachet water safety, production compliance, and consumer trust. It recommends strengthening NAFDAC'S capacity, increasing public education on water safety, and fostering collaboration with local authorities to enhance regulatory compliance and ensure equitable access to safe drinking water across Ekiti State.
