Abstract
ABSTRACT The study was carried out to determine the Effect Of Laboratory And Discussion Methods On Academic Performance Among Biology Student In Some Secondary School In Zaria Local Government Area, Kaduna State. Pretest, post-test quasi-experimental design was adopted for the study. The study's three explicit objectives, its three research questions, and its three stated null hypotheses served as its guide. The population of the study consisted of all 416 SS II Biology students in Zaria LGA; 132 students were chosen at random from two schools to serve as the study's sample. The six-week data gathering phase was conducted. Prior to the students being exposed to the treatment variable (the laboratory teaching method), a pretest was administered, and then a post-test was given. All three research questions were addressed using the mean and standard deviation, and all specified null hypotheses were tested at the 0.05 level of significance (p=0.05) using the independent samples t-test statistical method. According to the analysis, there is no significant difference in the academic performance of students taught Biology using laboratory teaching method and those taught using demonstration teaching method (P=0.000
