Abstract
The study is aimed at determining the corrosion inhibition efficiency of ethanol extract of Persea Americana (Avocado pear) leaf in an acidic medium with intention to specifically evaluate the corrosion rate of mild steel in the presence and absence of the extract in 1 M HCl. Weight loss method was used in this study and obtained result shows that the inhibitor retarded the corrosion rate of mild steel. The maximum inhibition efficiencies recorded were 85.8, 86.3, 84.3, 83.4 and 82.4 % at the concentration of 1500 mg/l. Langmuir adsorption isotherm validates the obtained result.
