Abstract
Corrosion is a major threat to the durability and performance of metallic materials in a variety of industrial applications. The goal of this study is to investigate the potential corrosion inhibitory effects of Corchorus olitorius methanol extract on aluminum in sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution. Corchorus olitorius, or jute mallow, is well-known for its numerous medicinal and therapeutic benefits. It is speculated that the methanol extract of Corchorus olitorius contains active chemicals capable of reducing the corrosive breakdown of aluminum. Aluminum specimens are subjected to strong NaOH solutions in the presence and absence of different amounts of Corchorus olitorius methanol extract. Weight loss measurement be used to characterize corrosion behavior. The purpose of this research is to analyze the inhibitory efficiency, adsorption mechanism, and protective film development associated with Corchorus olitorius methanol extract on aluminum surfaces. The findings of this study are expected to provide important insights into the corrosion inhibition potential of natural extracts obtained from Corchorus olitorius. Furthermore, the findings may aid in the development of environmentally benign and long-lasting corrosion inhibitors for aluminum in alkaline settings, with potential uses in aerospace, construction, and marine engineering.
