Abstract
This project presents the design and implementation of a secure electronic voting system that incorporates fingerprint authentication to enhance the integrity and reliability of the electoral process. As traditional voting methods face challenges related to security, accuracy, and efficiency, this research explores the potential of biometric technology combined with cryptographic protocols to address these issues. The system is developed as a windows application software and the system utilizes fingerprint recognition as a primary means of voter identification and authentication, significantly reducing the risk of voter fraud and identity theft. By digitizing the voting process, the system also minimizes human error in vote counting and accelerates result tabulation. The implementation includes robust encryption methods to protect voter privacy and maintain the confidentiality of ballot choices. Key features and technologies of the system include C# programming language, windows form foe designing, MSSQL for the backend database, biometric voter authentication using fingerprint recognition, encrypted data transmission and storage digital vote casting and automated tallying The project methodology encompassed requirement analysis, system design and small-scale pilot implementation. Results demonstrate improved accuracy in vote counting, reduced time for result generation, and enhanced security compared to traditional paper-based voting systems. This project contributes to the ongoing dialogue on election modernization and provides a frame work for future developments in secure electronic voting systems. The findings suggest that biometric-enhanced e-voting systems have the potential to increase public trust in electoral processes and promote greater democratic participation.
