Abstract
This study investigated the influence of self-confidence and emotional intelligence as predictors of academic performance of undergraduate students in Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Every student’s performance in their academics is of utmost importance to them. This performance can either be facilitated or compromised by so many other factors besides reading. Specifically, this work examined whether “other factors” like self-confidence and emotional intelligence can predict better performance in academics. A total of one hundred and forty (140) undergraduate students of Unizik were selected for this study using stratified random sampling. They comprised of 52 males and 88 females, whose ages ranged from 17 to 26years, with the mean age of 21.5 and standard deviation of 4.5. Three sets of instruments administered in this study were: Academic Performance Scale, The General Self-Efficacy Scale and Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale.
