Abstract
Andrographis paniculata, commonly known as "King of Bitters," is a medicinal herb widely used in traditional medicine for its various health benefits. Native to Asia, this plant has been employed in Ayurvedic and Unani practices for centuries to treat various ailments, including fever, inflammation, and respiratory issues. Recent studies have validated its potential in modulating immune response, exhibiting anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and demonstrating antimicrobial activity. However, its effects on the central nervous system, particularly the cerebrum and cerebellum, are not fully understood, warranting further investigation. This study explored the potential toxicity of Andrographis paniculata on the cerebrum and cerebellum of mice. Here is a possible abstract for the study. 12 mice (6 male and 6 female) were divided into control and experimental groups. The experimental group received Andrographis paniculata extract, while the control group did not and were observed for reaction to pain, locomotion, grouping or tail aggressiveness, appearance of faeces, reaction to noise, number of deaths, etc after 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours and 14 days. The study found no significant toxicity was observed in the cerebrum and cerebellum of the experimental group of the experimental group. This study provides insight into the potential toxicity of Andrographis paniculata on the cerebrum and cerebellum of mice. The results suggest further studies are needed to fully understand the toxic effects of Andrographis paniculata. Further research is needed to confirm these findings and to explore the potential mechanisms of toxicity.
