Secure Voter’s Identification Number Verification System for Online Mobile Voting ( Using Unn Student Elections as a Case Study)

Abstract

This project is focused on the design and implementation of a secure voters’s
identification number verification system for online mobile voting during
elections. The current system being used is a fusion of manual and electronic
systems of voting which does not completely eradicate the ills of electoral
processes such as rigging and other irregularities. The proposed system design
from this work is focused on making election exercises credible, free and fair.
After carefully and qualitatively analysing past electoral processes, the proposed
system was recommended which is meant to computerize electoral processes and is
devoid of the problems from the current system being used. This project would
show how to implement the proposed system and also suggest how to overcome
the obstacles that may prevent a successful implementation of the system. The
proposed system was designed and implemented using block-based coding, also
known as block based-programming. This language was chosen because of its
simplicity in implementation. The result from this project is an android app
intended to implement secure voter’s identification number verification for online
mobile voting which would enable users carryout their civil responsibilities(voting)
seamlessly from the comfort of their homes.
