Federal Government Removal of Fuel Subsidy and Governance in Nigeria, 2023-2024

Abstract
The project titled ‘’Federal government removal of fuel subsidy and Governance in Nigeria from 2023 and 2024 analyses the establishment ofthe policy in Nigeria under the regimePresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Though there are several occasion of fuel subsidy removal implementation in Nigeria, the gap in the literature review section of the project pointed out that available studies are yet to account for how the rising cost of fuel prices has continuedto undermine the transportation mobility and threat to the livelihood conditions of Nigerians, and increase of electricity tariff and power supply in Nigeria. Whilst the extant studies on fuel subsidy are relevant in their own right, this study argues that the rising cost of fuel prices over removal of fuel subsidy explains the current changing prices of transportations mobility of Nigerians that affected the living conditions of Nigerians and electricity tariff hike has undermined Nigeria’s regular power supply on several occasions unabated. The objective of the project were to interrogate the dynamics of removal of fuel subsidy and governance in Nigeria under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The theoretical framework of the project analyzed the post-colonial state theory tenents through the application of the theoretical framing within the context of the study. The study context and methodology are linked with causal relationship with relevant cases of high increase of fuel prices and economic realities of transporters, commuters/passengers, parents and students in Nigeria. Then comes conclusion which relates with recommendations in line with questions raised, hypothesis and theoretical framework. The hypothesis connotes the rising cost of fuel price undermined Nigeria’s transportation mobility among Nigerians in respect to high cost of petroleum product with the price of N1, 300 naira per a liter andelectricity tariff hike has undermined Nigeria’s regular power supply consistently.
