Abstract

This research examined the effect of transactional leadership styles as performance incentive
on Employee Productivity of small and medium enterprises in Ekiti State University, Ado
Ekiti; The study also considered the influence of transformational leadership styles as
incentive on Employee Productivity of small and medium enterprises in Ekiti State
University, Ado Ekiti. The study engaged the use of Descriptive Statistics as research design.
Descriptive regression method was used quantitatively determine the relationship and effect
of the predictive variable (autocratic, democratic and laissez faire leadership styles) on the
dependent variable (employee productivity). Findings indicated that incentives including
leadership style significantly affect employee productivity. the respondents‟ scores on three
variables Laissez -Faire Leadership on Employee Productivity of SMEs were computed and
subjected to simple regression analysis. the R (correlation Coefficient) gives a positive value
of 0.731; this indicates that there is a very strong and positive relationship between Laissez -
Faire Leadership and Employee Productivity of SMEs. Based on the findings, it is concluded
that the incentives and leadership styles could influence productivity in competitive business Organization
