The Role of Grey Resources Management and Ict Integration in Enhancing Quality Library Services in Academic Libraries in Ekiti State, Nigeria

Abstract
ABSTRACT
The study examined the role of grey resources management and ICT integration in enhancing quality library service in academic libraries in Ekiti State. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study. Eight research questions were raised for this study. The population for the study comprised 10 librarians and 38 final year students of library and information science, using purposive sample techniques. The sample comprised all 38 final year students of LIS and 10 practitioner librarians in Ekiti state university, Ado-Ekiti. A self-designed questionnaire titled “Grey Resources Management and ICT Integrating in Enhancing Quality Library Service in Academic Libraries Questionnaire (GRMIIQLSQLQ)” was the instrument used for data collection. Face and content validity was carried out for the study by two lecturers in LIS and one in test and measurement. Test retest method was used to ensure the reliability of the instrument which yielded 0.87. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics of frequency, percentage, and mean. Results revealed that Ekiti state university library has adequate collection of grey materials which included, thesis, report and conference papers among others. It also showed that they were aware of the available grey resources and found it easy to locate and access. Also, the online platform for accessing grey resources is user-friendly, they can access grey resources without significant technical difficulties and there is enough guidance provided on how to locate grey resources. The study concluded that role of grey resources management and ICT integrating has positively enhanced the quality library service in academic libraries and improved students academic performance. Based on the findings of this study, it was recommended that students should familiarize themselves with their institution's digital repositories where grey literature is stored. Librarians should advocate for the creation and implementation of institutional policies that prioritize the collection, organization, and accessibility of grey literature. These policies should define acquisition procedures, metadata standards, and preservation strategies to ensure seamless integration into academic research.
