Investigating the Integration of Media Information Technology in Library Services (a Case Study of Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management Liberary)

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to investigate the integration of media information technology in in KTSIM library, Survey research method was wed for the study. The study focuses on identifying the types of media technologies used in KSITM katsina library, the extent of their use, the satisfaction derived from their use by users, the problems that are associated with using these technologies and workable solutions to minimize the problems. The study has discovered that, computers, CD ROMS, video cassettes, television, radio, satellites, films, projector, slides, internet connectivity, reprographic machine. and modem are the available media technologies used in KSITM library. It also found that the level of media technologies use in KSITM library is 50% fair compared to the number of total users in the college. Also, the level of satisfaction derived from the use of media technologies is 81.48%, the study also discovered that electricity, inadequate facilities, lack of sufficient skills to use the facilities, and lack of proper accommodation and environmental factors are some of the problems associated with the use of media technology in KSITM library. Library staffs also suggested that provision of more maintenance allowances and more facilities should minimize the problems identified. Many users also concurred with this while adding that more accommodation (space) should be provided. Further recommendations were also given in the concluding chapter of the study
